Many Brooklyn Park businesses are calling their insurance companies after Monday’s hail.
“They were golf ball-sized hail coming down at a pretty good rate. They break when they hit the ground so you can’t pick one up to see how big it was, but they were pretty big,” explained Steve Strong with Mobile Installation Service.
Workers with Mobile Installation Service tried to beat Mother Nature by putting the cars inside, but they didn’t quite make it.
“Every car that was out here got dents all over the body,” said Strong.
The big clumps of ice did a lot of damage, taking out the rear windows in two cars.
“We’re gonna have to get some new glass on them,” said Strong.
The storm also caused a problem for The Window Store Home Improvements next door, but owner Ron Vosika says that’s not necessarily bad news.
“This windshield’s got a nice circle in it from here and these dents in the hood,” pointed out Vosika. “We had six vehicles here and two trailers that got damaged. In Osseo, there we had two other vehicles that were parked over there that got damaged.”
Vosika’s business has weathered a few hailstorms before. However, the roofing replacement company isn’t holding any grudges against Mother Nature.
“We’ll end up getting a lot of business for roof replacement out of it anyway,” said Vosika.
So, while some folks are upset over their damaged vehicles, Vosika is taking it all in stride, thankful for the silver lining.
“Bad for our cars, good for our business.”
